I have learned much from doing research on this culture. The Ming Dynasty was formed in 1368. Before this dynasty, the Mongols had ruled. The Chinese hated this because they had taken away most of the Chinese customs. Also they had a different way of running things that the Chinese did not agree with. They decided to rebel against the Mongols. The person that led this rebels was a man with the name of Zhu Yuanzhang. He led his army of soldiers and they over ruled the Mongols. He formed the Ming Dynasty and brought back all the Chinese customs. The people were all happy now. To make sure that the Mongols never can back to attack the Chinese, the Great Wall of China was being build and really started to flourish during this Dynasty. Some of the important places include the Forbidden Palace. This was made to be a place for the Emperor to live. Only the Emperor and his servants were allowed inside. Now it can be a stop for tourists. Another place was the Yellow Mountains. This was a beautiful scenery. Many poets would write about these magnificent mountains. There has been many records found.
One of the huge things in the Dynasty was pottery making. This is why I chose to include this picture in the scrapbook. The common pot were of the color of blue and white. The common vases had a dragon painted with blue on the face of it. These were a huge product that was traded and imported t new locations. Another included was a picture of the binging of feet. This was looked upon as being beautiful and only rich women could afford to do this. This is because when their feet were binded, they were not able to walk afterwards. It was a painful process that started at birth. The Ming Dynasty was also a place with many inventions. I included many images of them. They had made the rudders for a boat, that helped the boat move faster and did not require people to paddle. Also paper was invented and used during this dynasty. This was a great improvement. Also the bristle tooth brush. It looks a lot like the tooth brushes commonly used today.
This culture has surprised me a lot. I did not know much about foot binging. I did not know that it was looked upon as being beautiful. It looked painful and I cant even imagine ever doing that to my feet. I would yes and no want to experience this culture. This culture had a huge break through with all the new inventions. I t would have also been interesting to see the Chinese over come the Mongol rule. I wouldn’t want to live in this culture because of the way the women were treated. They had no rights compared to the men. This would have bothered me a lot. They were expected to stay home and take care of the family. Most didn’t even get an education.
